In a shower area, the substrate must be perfectly flat to ensure the waterproofing membrane adheres without air pockets. Floor transitions require a level plane to prevent tripping hazards or cracked grout. When installing a tub or a freestanding tub, the floor must be dead level to prevent the unit from shifting. If the floor is uneven, the plumbing connections for a faucet or a shower valve might experience stress. A curb must be perfectly square and level to accommodate the transition from the bathroom floor to the shower base. Deviations here lead to leaking or poor fitment of the cladding.
Final Inspection Before Cladding
The final check happens after the mud or cement work is dry. A straightedge is run vertically and horizontally across all planes. Shadows should be minimal.
